A long 10 weeks...
I'm finally back at work with time to sit down long enough to update the blog.
The little man made his debut at 8:03am on April 26...a scheduled c -section is somewhat like going to the mall to pick out your kid.
We got there around 5:30 and they made me get naked and hooked me up to all sorts of gizmos. Luckily, one of my former students was there to greet me and I had two great nurses until shift change at 7:00. My nurse after shift change was marvelous and I'm so glad I had her during the surgery.
One of the aforementioned gizmos was a fluid warmer. If you've never been hooked up to a fluid warmer, let me tell you - it works. By the time my doctor got there I told her I was a human fajita! She let them take me off it but as soon as I got in the OR I regretted that decision b/c it was freezing!!!
Anyway, they got started right away and after Gigi and Dr. Rinestien played tug of war with my belly for a while, I heard them say they had the head out. Jon stood up and leaned over the drape and said "hello boy" and the little man was screaming his head off.
The rest of my time in the hospital is a blur of sleeplessness and happy pills.
We're adjusting to life with 2 and E is a wonderful big sister. We can't hardly keep her off of him and she loves him like crazy. She's also been a big help to a very tired mommy!
