This mommy's prayer

Thank you for sending me an angel and allowing me to call her "daughter".

Thank you for the best OB in the whole world who wanted me to have a healthy baby as much as I wanted to and for sending her into my life just when I needed her.

Thank you for E's glowing smile, contagious laugh, bouncy walk and curious nature. Thank you for hugs, kisses and high fives.

Please let her grow up to be strong and confident and passionate about life and things that thrill her.

Please let me be the kind of mom that she will be proud to acknowledge as hers and help me not to put my insecurities on her.

Please let her grow to love this new baby and this new baby to love her. May they grow old together and laugh remembering how much fun we had as a family when they tell stories of us to their own grandchildren.

Thank you for allowing me to be a mom and for the miracle of life inside me.

Homecoming

Beak and I loaded up the baby and headed of to the ol' stomping ground at GC on Saturday morning.

It was a beautiful central Kentucky day...a crisp breeze and lots of sunshine. A perfect fall day.

We went to the Phi Tau and Phi Mu houses but didn't see anyone because we got there so late (fiasco at Cracker Barrell hindered our planned arrival). I warned E about boys when we went into the Phi Tau house and I explained that they are really nothing but trouble and to stay away from them as long as possible. Of course, daddy agreed!

We headed over to the game and I ran into a few PMs there but we saw none of Beak's friends.

E loved on the tiger, gave him high fives and hugs. She cheered "go tigers" with her shaker and after this little trip I'm sure she's ready for college!

Only on Bardstown Road

I saw what I believe was a homeless fellow today on Bardstown Road with a sign that read:

Why lie? It's for beer.

Dream Interpretations

Okay girls, how about some dream interpretation for the pregnant lady.

Last night I dreamed that I went to visit a nursing home. I didn't go to visit someone at the nursing home, I just went to the nursing home.

Once I was insdide the nursing home, I had to get in another car and drive to the basement of the nursing home and then back up an extremely steep hill to get out of the place.

The hill was so steep that in my dream I was holding on to the roof of the car because I was scared the car was going to flip backward down the hill.

I made it up the hill and got out of the car and that's when I woke up.

Thoughts?

Dogs

This was forwarded to me by a friend of mine and I'm just trying to help these cuties find a home and I know you guys are all animal lovers and might know somebody who would want them.

Their names are Amy and Andie.

This past Friday, Sept. 29, some people drove into my neighborhood & just let their dogs out of the car...basically they threw them out. And they ended up with Steve and I after I found them wandering around. I have called all the animal shelters in town that are 'No Kill', but unfortunately they are currently at 'No Vacancy' status...meaning if I send them to the county pound they will be euthanized...and I just can't have that.

These are 2 fantastic dogs, one about 2 years and the other 6 months. I have taken them to the vet and got them all worked up, rabies shots, worm tested, etc. and they got an excellent bill of health from the vet. They are wonderful with Seth and will be great for anyone, whether a family, single person, or an elderly person who wants companions.

Heartbeats and ultrasounds

It's been a little hectic the past couple of weeks and the blog has suffered.

We went to the doctor last Wednesday for the first time. They took 5 vials of blood and I asked the tech if she was leaving any for me because I would probably use it later if she could. I peed in multiple cups. I weighed. My arm got pumped for blood pressure. And, to top it all off, I got a swab for VD. Great.

But, the light at the end of the tunnel....my OB is fantastic and wanted me to hear the heartbeat as much as I wanted to hear it and she stuck with it until she got it. So, we got to hear the heartbeat at 9 weeks which I'm told is really early so things are good.

This Wednesday, we went for an ultrasound. Because I'm less than 12 weeks it was a vaginal ultrasound. Now, I know two of you personally who have had one of these, but for those of you who haven't:

I asked the tech (who was as sweet as she could be) how large the transducer was. She said about the size of a tampon. She fiddles around a little longer and then gets me settled and gets out the thing she is about to put inside me. She holds it up and shows it to me and all I can think is - clearly that is not the size of a tampon. She puts two latex gloves over the end of it and slathers it with KY before it makes it into me.

There was the bean. Wiggling, flipping, turning all around. Heartbeat 171. Arm buds, heart, busy little bee. The tech says everything looks great.

When we got back to the car and I was still laughing about her comparing it to a tampon, Beak says, you should have asked her if it was the size of an adult tampon or the size of an elephant's tampon.
