Okay, not only is motherhood not for wimps (in the immortal words of SEDW) but it is also not for women who like to sleep!!!!
Pre-baby friends - there are not enough words to prepare you for the sleeplessness!!!
Some women I know have been blessed with sleepers - babies who read the assigned text, passed the exam and were granted thier license to sleep through the night at 6 weeks and never even hiccup during the nighttime hours.
Me?
I have a darling, precious, hillarious baby who in fact withdrew from the course on sleeping. She thinks she might take it sometime next semester if she can fit it in.
Last night I put her down at 7:30 (usually she goes between 8 - 8:30, but last night she was really sleepy). Awake again by 9, awake again at 10:15 (at which time I decided to go to bed), awake again around 11:45, awake again around 2:00, awake again around 3:30 - this time SCREAMING (unusual), I go in to really investigate & find her soaked, change her clothes, rock her, down at 4:45, awake again at 6:00, awake again to stay at 7:30.
I think for me last night was just 2 two-hour naps!!!
This is not a one-night thing. This is almost every night. She wakes up at least 5 times a night and sometimes it's worse and sometimes it's better.
So, girls, say a prayer for miss E's sleep habits and we shall see what the moon & stars hold for us tonight....
