the moment of truth

Four years ago this summer I started coursework toward my PhD in Postsecondary Educational Administration and Organizational Development.

In the meantime, I've had two children and my husband changed careers. There were days when I thought about quitting, there were times when I barely worked at all and there were times when I worked more than I have in any of my past coursework. It's been quite a journey and I'm glad I stuck with it even when I wanted to stop.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week I'll be taking my comprehensive exams. I'll have four questions and will spend 4 hours of each day in a room at a computer answering those questions.

It feels like the culmination of all the work I've put into my whole educational career and when I pass, I'll officially be "All But Disseration" - a Ph.D CANDIDATE!

So to all my friends in cyberspace - wish me luck and say a prayer!

Moments

There are moments in your life as a mom that you cry, that you laugh, that you want to pull your hair out.

Then there are moments that fill your soul to the brim and you think you might burst with joy and love.

Last night E & I were snuggling on the couch and she reached over and put both her hands around my neck and said:

"Mommy, you're my best friend".

She is truly a gift from God of which I am surely not deserving.

11 Weeks

Lots of things I could post about today but I think I'll just publish my latest stats.

Started WW & my exercise routine 11 weeks today and I'm down 12 pounds. I'm running 20 minutes 3 times a week and doing 25 minutes of cardio the other days, lifting weights and doing crunches and leg lifts.

You have no idea what slipping into pre-baby jeans without any trouble at all can do for your self esteem! And, I can't be sure, but I think a couple of guys at a restaurant bar were checking me out last night!

9 weeks

So I've been back at work 9 weeks.

9 weeks ago I started Weight Watchers & working out. The first couple of weeks were rough but I've stuck with it.

I'm happy to report that in that 9 weeks I have lost 8 pounds and 5 overall inches.

And - I weigh 12 pounds less today than when I got pregnant with either of the babies.

I'm working hard but I feel great and I'm so glad to finally see the results!
